Fashion Bug was the official enabler of the Pepiliyana Youth Council's Bicycle Race and Avurudu Festival followed by a night of music last week. The first round of the race was the 'Peace Round' - a celebration of diversity and ethnic harmony. The events was graced by Hon. Mayor for Dehiwala- Mt. Lavinia Municipal Council Mr. Dhanasiri Amarathunga who commended Fashion Bug for lending a helping hand.

Fashion Bug being a part of avurudu festivities at the Kalubowila hospital
Fashion Bug has the pleasure of being a part of the avurudu festivities at the Kalubowila hospital yesterday (5th May 2013) as everyone from doctors to attendants got together as one with their families at their annual avurudu celebration 'Bakmaha Udanaya'. It was truly a pleasure watching the hard working team relax and have fun for once. They were truly grateful for the opportunity .

Fashion Bug partners with Dream Big Disability Awareness Concert.
Fashion Bug had the honor of being a part of a very special event on the 1st and and 2nd of March 2013 as we partnered with Qbaa in presenting "An Evening with a Difference" a concert organized to raise funds to enable the differently-abled through the Mother Theresa Foundation. The evening of music featured the X Factor sensation Emmanuel Kelly. Emmanuel is an Iraqi refugee born with physical deformities as their parents were exposed to chemical warfare during Operation Desert Storm. Emmanuel was found in a shoe-box after being left for dead and was deposited at the Mother Theresa Orphanage in Baghdad. In 1998, Moira Kelly the famed Australian humanitarian worker, discovered Emmanuel and brought him to Australia for medical treatment. She subsequently adopted Emmanuel and he became Australian citizens. Emmanuel became an Australian X-Factor star in 2011 when he related his extremely touching story to the X-Factor Australian judges as 1.2 million people around the world watched his performance which ended the series premiere by singing the iconic John Lennon’s song, “Imagine”. The concert also featured Aria Award-winning and multi platinum selling recording artist, Gary Pinto as well as delightful Natasha Marie and the audience was sensational cheering on the performances and the noble cause.

Fashion Bug extends care towards Kalubowila Hospital
Fashion Bug extends his caring hands towards rejuvenating and giving the much needed renovation and changes to the Kalubowila hospital ward number 3. Fashion bug took on this project to mark the health week and the newly renovated, rejuvenated ward was opened on the 14th of December,2012. Ward number 3 had 50 beds in total and had a capacity to accommodate 50 patients at any given point. Ward number 3 was fully renovated with new light and fittings, a brand new LCD TV, and most importantly cupboards used for storage were all replaced. Fashion Bug did not stop with this they went to the extend of painting the whole ward, beds and lockers to give all the patients a pleasant ambience.
The leading retail chain in Sri Lanka, Fashion Bug recently concluded two CSR projects at two leading hospitals in the country: National Eye Hospital Colombo and Lady Ridgeway.
The Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children being the only Hospital for children in Sri Lanka serves as the national referral centre for paediatric medical and surgical care for Children below 12 years of age. Currently the hospital has 6 general paediatric medical and 4 general paediatric surgical units. Fashion Bug generously contributed by repainting ward number 14 –A and 14-B. These two wards are specialized in providing cleft lip and palate surgery, hand reconstructive surgery and essential cosmetic surgery. This is the only ward in Sri Lanka to conduct plastic surgery.
The Multidisciplinary Cleft Clinic of the Lady Ridgeway Children’s Hospital has a team of specialists headed by Dr. Romesh Gunasekera who work together with the parents to provide the child born with a CLP with the most up-to-date care and management.
To mark the completion of the Fashion Bug CSR project, officials from Lady Ridgeway including Dr Rathnasiri Hewage- Director of Ridgeway Hospital, Dr. Romesh Gunasekera- Consultant, Plastic Surgeon, Dr Sunil Wijesinghe - Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Jagath Gamage - Medical Officer of Ward Number 14 and Fashion Bug
marketing team headed by Mr. Rameez Mohamed participated in distributing gift items among the children who were receiving medical care at the hospital.
Furthermore, Fashion Bug has contributed in upgrading electrical insulation works at Colombo Eye Hospital as well. These two projects were coordinated by Ms. Malka Jaythilaka, Language and speech therapist at Ridgeway and Dr. Vasuki Gurusamy Consultant Eye surgeon at National Eye Hospital Colombo.

Fashion Bug is the official clothing sponsor of SL Women Cricket, who will be participating a triangular series in Delhi from 15th November 2011 onwards.
Fashion Bug dresses Amalians to Fly
Six students of Amal International School at Havelock Road Colombo 05, tested their skills on a global stage in "Think Quest International Competition 2011" organized by Oracle Corporation USA. Students of Amal International created an entry called "End Child Labor" and has won second place in the world in Digital Media Event under 19 category. They took a wing to San Francisco for their award ceremony, Fashion Bug (Pvt) Ltd graciously sponsored with casual line for the team.
